Who Is the History Nerd?

Ever since grade school, when I read about the Battle of Midway and baseball’s past greats, I was hooked on history. After earning a BA in history, I’ve been fortunate enough to make my living researching and writing about the past (though I’m not a “professional” historian, with graduate degrees). And now I’m living in New Mexico, a state that takes its history–Indian, Hispanic, and Anglo–very seriously. With this blog, I aim to provide some historical perspective on current events. The choice of topics will be highly personal, and so will some of the views,  but I’ll use the best sources possible to uncover as much of the “truth” about the past as I can. Hope you enjoy it.

    History is my life!!!

What’s your favorite epoch? I’m all about The Early Republic, but The Gilded Age is a close second.

Colonial and Revolutionary era are probably number one, and I like diplomatic stuff from most eras. Have written quite a bit about WWII and the Cold War. Also love ancient Rome, but don’t know as much as I would like.

I love history, too, although I didn’t realize it until I began to do genealogy research into my family lines in northern England and France. My father was Georges Begue (you can WIKI him) and my father in law was Vance Hartke (you can also WIKI him). I cannot find your post on Hartke. Has it been removed? I’d like to read it. Thanks, Brigitte Begue Hartke
